i`m not a fan of Norton at all,but if you have anything at all other than Norton there is conflict between the two.one will have to go.Norton is about as bad as a virus in its self.if it expires and you try to change to something else,it`s almost impossible to delete Norton.

It is a service that runs in the background and checks things to keep you safe. That's the trade off.
It is the same with all anti-virus programs.
Because it (Norton) is a piece of crap. The cure is worse than the disease.
The speed depends upon the RAM capacity. Working with a slow computer can be time consuming as programs/ applications take a long time to start. This problem is more pronounced in computers which have been used for 6 or more months. More information at http://fixit.in/slowcomputer.html
