You can delete the norton folder from the Programs folder. But in some case you have to go in to the registry and remove them step by step. Takes alot of time and patience to find them all.
I had a similar problem, as I am totally green when it comes to computers got on to the manufacture, they said Norton were renewed for this problem and guided me through how to get rid of them. Hope you solve it, now I just would not entertain them, feels like once they have got you they wont let you go.
1.delete the program file as well

2.restore ur system
delete the program folders manually and remove the regestry keys manualy
go to start /control panel /add/remove programmes and remove everything that has norton/symantec files programmes, whilst this is being done DO NOT LOG ONTO ANY WEBSITE AS YOUR SECURITY IS NON EXSISTENT,then you will be able to install your updates,by the way you can get norton 2006 free i upgraded from 2004.log onto symantec web site on see if the offer is still going.
Carella's advice is certainly your best option but I'd also recommend temporarily disabling your firewall - Norton products are so invasive their tentacles reach everywhere

if in time you get thoroughly fed up with System Works, have a look at Tuneup Utilities 2007
try this go to start click on search click on all fills and folders type in symantec/Norton then click on search. this will tell you where they might be more norton systems on your computer. then go and manually delete, when all is done, don't forget to empty the recycling bin then do another search.
