What's the best way to uninstall programs?

(I'm using Windows XP Pro.) There's "Add/Remove" in the control panel, some programs have their own unistall feature, 3rd party programs (Norton Systemworks, CCleaner, etc), "unwise.exe" uninstaller with some programs -- what's the best way, and why?

I would say using thea add/remove option as windows will use the 3rd party unistall feature if necessary and that all your programs are displayed in the one window so it's easier to find and delete programs.

Well, if you want to uninstall a program go to my computer in the start button and go to folders and press shared documents and right click on it and where it says delete it will delete it from your entire desktop
Actually, the add/remove in control panel starts the windows installer service, which in turn calls the installer that came with the program. So either way, you end up running the same thing. I use add/remove in control panel for ease of use. Sometimes, a program won't be listed there, and I'll use the uninstaller found in the C:\Program files\XYZ Program directory to uninstall the XYZ program. Failing that, I search the registry for both the title of the software and the publishers name, and remove all references of both (worst way).

According to my experience, many softwares will not simply let you uninstall them completely no matter what method you use. Now whenever I uninstall any program whether through its own uninstall program or through 'Add/Remove' I will check my C drive and 'My Documents' and delete whatever 'leftover' files the programs left behind, preferably in safe mode. Then do a disk cleanup. ... Ethics has gone down the drain!
