every time i log in this ting pops up saying...

but the problem is that i dont have the cd anymore and i cant delete it when i try to from he ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.

i dont kno wat to do because my comp is very slow and i always have to log in to the save mode if i want to go on the computer. plus i have spywares and viruses in my comp. and i cant remove them even though i did installed the window xp service pack 2, i still cant insall NORTON ANTIVIRUS 2008 (with antispyware)*NORTON SYSTEMWORKS (basic edition)*NORTON CONFIDENTIAL**

i really dont kno what to do because i cant install them in safe mode and i cant install them in normal mode cuz i cant connect to the internet! so plz if anybody knows ne thing about this plzz help me ASAP!

Hi, have u installed any software like Vista transformation pack or anything like that?

That could be a problem.

Without a cd the most u can do is try system restore first, if that doesn't work then do this.

1. disable system restore and restart in safe mode.

I would prefer Norton 360 version 2.0 since it has features of 1) Norton Internet Security( Firewall, Network Map, Autofill).

2)Norton System Works(Registry cleaner, Windows temporary files and Internet files cleaner, etc)

3)Norton Confidential(Password Manager)

4)Backup and Restore of your data.

i had a trial of norton 360 version 2 i think

and it was ok, it does deal with nasties very well but quite pestering sometimes as it will always ask you to let applications run etc.

overall though it's ok.. it has pc security, back up and more!
Really Norton is about the worst anti-virus you can use. It slows your PC, doesn't detect 100% of viruses (no anti-virus does but Norton's figure is particularly low) and is very buggy. There are much better anti-virus products available including some which are free. I recommend AVG or Avast both of which are free and work very well.

I used to use Norton but I found it really slowed my PC down.The main problems with it are that 1) it's a very good example of "bloatware" ie it very hungry for system resources and 2) it's a nightmare to uninstall and you will have to download an uninstaller from the Norton website.Use AVG and Comodo firewall pro - both free and won't hog much of your system resources.
Well, if you don't want advice, don't ask. Norton is not as good as they would like you to think.

Is there a program to monitor software installations?

Norton SystemWorks used to have a installation monitor that told me all the files and registry values made during a software install. I don't have Norton anymore, but is there any such software that tracks changes to computer? My point isn't to uninstall stuff, but just to check on what changed. So I don't mind an uninstaller program so long as it tells me what files and registry values changed.

Also: Tried Filemon, but that only tracks all the files that were accessed!

Program Integrity Scan...says errors were corrected. How do I remedy this?

Whenever I do a Norton's Systemworks One Button Touchup, I get the result that there were 3 Program Integrity Errors...and of course the program corrects this. It's always the same result...3 errors, but they are corrected. I understand this usually results when a program has been removed. If this is the case, how do I found out where the remnants may be so I don't get this result anymore???

Which processes should i kill?

My computer is pretty slow so i checked the processes using process viewer on norton systemworks and there seems to be alot running. What i would like to know is, which ones can i kill? How do i know if it needs to be running or not. The same with the start up processes. I would like to kill some of these so my computer starts up quicker but i do not know which i need.

but still there are many autorun program in computer(Such as virus) which cann't stop by msconfig.

So stop all process from computer except explorer.exe which is running on user account in task manager.

No.. Systemworks does not contain a firewall.. It includes Norton AntiVirus, And a few extra utilities to clean up your computer and make it run faster.. I used systemworks before and loved it.

Norton Internet Security 2006 includes the Firewall, Anti-Virus, And parental controls.

The best firewall Ive seen is Zonealarm, they have a great free firewall. Also try Avast! antivirus, also free.

I believe that Norton is an inferior product. I suggest an alternate product. Unfortunatly, I won't say which one, since I'm not on their payroll. You can do better than Norton. Keep looking.
